This bolete has brown velvety cap, with a yellowish pore surface turning more yellowish near the margin of the cap. The a stem was remarkably bright, and the mushroom felt strong and heavy. There was no notable bruising when handling, or when intentionally bruised. It was found growing in moss near the edge of the forest on July 19th. The closest trees were oak, beech, and black locust. The Bolete Filter indicates that it is a choice edible. However, I only collected it for identification purposes. I was unable to get a good picture of the reticulation near the cap. However, there is a little bit visible in the close up photos of the underside of the cap.
